Calling for a fundamental cultural shift through stories (with a side of your favorite brew)

Retelling

One For All is a fierce gender-bent retelling of the Three Musketeers. Lainoff crafts a stunning tale full of adventure and found family that will be sticking with me. It’s heartwarming, strong, and empowering. Highly recommend!
The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea is a luscious and beautiful experience with prose that perfectly matches its stunning cover. This book with sweep you off your feet and fall in love with Mina in this wonderfully feminist reimagining of the story of Shim Cheong.
Daughter of the Moon Goddess is a dazzling debut by Sue Lynn Tan. It is magic wrapped up in love and delivered with beauty. The story is so thoughtful and exciting it is nearly impossible to put down. This story will captivate you and the prose will whisk you away into a land of magic and beauty.
The Chosen and the Beautiful is an incredible reimagining and reexamining of The Great Gatsby. It’s done so well and so full of thought and care. Nghi Vo knows and loves the story so much but has created a brand new way for us all to look at it. Absolutely stunning.
Anna K. was exactly what I wanted, it was glam, fun, twisty, intoxicating, and full of that incredibly overwhelming first love feeling. I was so incredibly happy to see a mixed main character, it took my breath away. Anyone can be as glam as they want, especially in books! Thank you, Jenny Lee!
Legendborn is incredible, and it is important. It is a story based on Arthurian Legend, with some major dark academia vibes thrown in that tackles so many important topics, but doesn’t forget to take you on an adventure that will make you laugh.
Ash was a fun retelling that added some elements to the classic story of Cinderella that I just adored.
This book was fun, and wove together many different fairytales from multiple different cultures, while adding more diverse representation, which was super cool! I liked the overarching story and how the characters told stories within the story. But I couldn’t help feeling like it needed to be fleshed out more.
